Very pleased I finally joined Internet Society – Sweden Chapter. I am a long time member and supporter of both Pen and Amnesty (where I’ll remain), but it feels very good to also support an organization dedicated to a free and open internet, since the internet – obviously – is becoming a more and more important arena in the struggle for basic rights and freedoms.

Had a great and memorable 21 k run in Barcelona (where I’m staying a month) this morning. Ideal conditions, running along the beautiful stretch of coast, right by the city, called La Barceloneta. Met few fellow runners despite the fact that the local marathon is less than a month away.

Such a funny illustration of the customer’s dilemma. Why on earth is it impossible to get the stuff (moving pictures in this case) you want simply by paying for it? And how can the industry hope to fight piracy when it is in almost every aspect a better option for the customer? This genius comic strip also again awoke an intense yearning for the sixth book in the series, “The Winds of Winter”. Anyone know when it’s due, let me know.

Registration for Beirut Marathon finally opened, and now I’m officially in the race. I’m very excited to run this marathon (in november), not only because of the exotic list of regulations. It is also going to be great to check out the city.

According to Macrumors a retina display on the iPad3 is now confirmed, which means I’ll probably buy one (although I find compulsive purchases, mine and others, of new iOS products a bit embarrassing). Also I have no reason to complain about my iPad1, to which I have a sentimental attachment – it has a long time survived the rough handling of little kids. The new display sounds like a good enough excuse though.

Some of last summer’s finest running was in New York, this pic from a beach close to East Hampton where I finished each race with a swim (the Hamptons are pretty good for running, apart from all the private roads that you can’t enter – I never get used to the concept).

Tomorrow I’m off to NYC (for a Duke CE program) where I’ll try to find time for a long (20 k+) run in the city, through the park, and a few laps around the reservoir. Hoping for decent weather.

Learned the other day that the average Fortune 500 company is 17 years old (though my Google skills apparently are not sufficient to confirm that number, and I still kind of find it difficult to believe). Anyway, MUCH younger than I would have guessed. Good to remember.
